Designer Wendell Rodricks passed away at the age of 59 on Wednesday in Goa. While the cause of his death is yet to be known as per media reports, the 59-year old, passed away at his Colvale residence in Goa. The industry has undoubtedly lost one of the most amazing and influential fashion designers.
Rodricks, who made a name for himself in the fashion industry rapidly rising up the ranks in India and abroad, was also awarded the Padma Shri in 2014. While he had handed over his designing label to his protégé Schulen Fernandes, he later fixated on his other projects including his museum and writing books.
Wendell was also outspoken about the LGBTQ community and as recently as 2018 had called on leaders of the Catholic church to help the LGBTQ community, their families and friends and bring them closer to the Church. He has aggressively also tried to spread awareness about environmental issues and bring the change.
Upon news of Rodricks death, many celebrities took to social media to grieve the designer's death. Rodricks was an A-list designer, who was also known as an activist for various social causes. Well, the funeral will be held at his ancestral village of Colvale on Thursday.
