Foods to Detox, Post Diwali Festivities

As India's most loved festival, the festival of lights, comes to an end, most poeple find themselves a few kilos heavier. We party for a full week. We visit people's home and they visit us. Every such visit involves a lot of eating and drinking. This is the time when we devour jalebis, gulab jamuns, other sweets and dry fruit. Healthy eating goes out the window as we enjoy the festivities.

This is why we need to detox!

Here are a few foods that can be used to detoxify your body after Diwali festivities. The idea is to give your digestive system a little rest and nourish your body with anti-oxidants. Try to reduce your carb and calorie intake for 2-3 days and consume these detox food items

1. Lemon water. Start your day with warm lemon water and honey. Drink a few cups through the day.

2. Green tea. A few cups of hot green tea taken throughout the day will help you a lot.

3. Salad including cucumbers, spinach and tomatoes.

4. Fresh seasonal fruit including apples, oranges and other citrus fruit.
