Vegan lifestyle is a hot trend these days. More and more people all over the world are trying to completely go off animal products. If you are thinking of trying veganism, but are not sure if you can give up milk, try plant based milk alternatives. You must have heard about milk alternatives like almond milk and oat milk, you have probably seen them in stores. But did you know you can make a healthy oat-almond milk drink at home?
Soak 1 cup of steel cut oats, and 1/2 cup almonds in 2 separate bowls. Leave them soaked overnight.
In the morning, strain the excess water from both the bowls and peel all almonds. Now combine the two in a bowl and run under cold water a few times.
In a blender, add your oat-almond mix with 4 cups of water and blend for 20-25 seconds.
Sieve the mix and strain the liquid out into a jug. Referigerate for an hour.
You will see that the pulp has seperated and settled at botton of the jug. Remove the milk from the pulp and store in fridge.
Enjoy your plant based milk in cold shakes, hot tea or coffee etc.
You can also make this milk from oats or almonds individually.
