Till now, parents worried about their children keeping late hours because it affected their eyesight and was considered a threat to academic career in some cases. But now they will see late hours as a threat to health and life!
Researchers claim that poor sleep causes clogged arteries, heart disease, and thereby early mortality. Sleeping fewer than 7 hours regularly is linked with morbidity and mortality. So now you see our forefathers who said "Early to bed, early to rise... Makes a man healthy, wealthy and wise." were really wise.
If you find it hard to get a good night's sleep, here are a few tips:
- Eat a light dinner, avoid eating anything 2 hours before bed time.
- Avoid watching TV or using your phone for 30 minutes before bed time.
- Create a proper and conducive environment for sleep. A dark and airy room is the best environment.
- Listen to some soothing music after you hit the sack!
