India welcomes back Shri Narendra Modi as the Prime Minister of our country. Without making any sweeping changes to his cabinet, Modiji did make some visible and important changes. As we all know our beloved Sushma Swaraj ji and Arun Jaitely ji had excused themselves from any cabinet positions this time due to their poor health. Modiji had to replace these big names in his cabinet and also include some new names.

While former foreign secretary S Jaishankar has been roped into the cabinet to replace Sushma ji, ex-Commerce Minister Nirmala Sitharaman ji has been appointed India's new Finance Minister.

This is the very first time that India has a woman leading the finance ministry. Clearly Modiji has immense faith and confidence in Nirmala ji, having placed our economy's future in her hands. It is a moment of pride for all of us and we wish Nirmala ji the best. We hope she succeeds at her new job!

Other important changes in the cabinet are - Rajnath Singh ji is the new Defence Minister and Amit Shah ji is our new Home Minister. Smt Smriti Irani ji, who is fast emerging as a big name in Indian politics, has now been given the Women and Child Development Ministry in addition to her Textiles Ministry charge.
