It is common to see our Bollywood stars promote their films at every possible stage. We have seen stars talk about their films at events, TV shows, radio channels and even when approached to comment on a different subject! But we have not yet seen a film promotion that actually does something to address the social cause it talks about! Akshay Kumar is about to change this with Padman.

Akshay Kumar has collaborated with the state government in Maharashtra to install free sanitary pad dispensing machines in the villages of Maharashtra, so that all women have access to free menstrual hygiene products. This is not a small thing! If Akshay's initiative can bring sanitary hygiene to rural women, it addresses a huge health problem for our women.

Talking about this scheme called Pad Bank for Daughters of Maharashtra, Akshay said, "CM Sir and I have been discussing this initiative for quite some time. We want Maharashtra to be the first state where every woman has access to sanitary pad. Menstrual hygiene is a necessity, not a luxury."

This initiative is just the beginning. If this effort is successfully implemented, Akshay will talk with the Union government to work out a similar pad bank solution for other states also.
