Everyone knows that drinking alcohol is bad for your health. It muddles up the senses so bad that it is considered dangerous of mix drinking and driving. This is why driving under the influence of alcohol is an offence all over the world. But did you know that sleep deprivation is just as bad?
In a recent study published in 'Nature Medicine' journal, it is explained how sleep deprivation affects the brain. At a smaller level, the study said, sleep deprivation robs the neurons in our brain of their ability to function properly. The neurons are sluggish and slow in responding to transmissions etc. This manifests as the person being muddled and confused.
The study has gone as far as saying that effects of sleep deprivation are pretty similar to the effects of drinking alcohol. Question is, why are we not taking sleep deprivation as seriously then?
