The newly launched high speed train between Mumbai and Goa had its first run recently. The launch of Tejas Express was an exciting affair, but the first run has not been anything less than shocking for Indian Railways! When the train came back to Mumbai after its first run, the LCD screens were found damaged, many headsets were found missing and the whole train was littered with waste. Railway officials were appalled at the extent of damage the train suffered on its first run.
What does this say about us? People travelling in a luxury train like Tejas Express are naturally from the upper strata of the society. If they cannot respect public property, what can we expect from the poor and uneducated people? This shameful incident just shows us that we are not yet ready to join the developed world, as we are hardly any closer to being developed than we were 50 years ago!
