Popular producer and director Karan Johar is the newest daddy in B-Town!
Karan Johar is the proud father to twins (a girl and a boy) through surrogacy. Karan's children were born at the same hospital where Shahrukh and Gauri had their son Abram, who was also born through surrogacy in 2013. Last year when actor Tusshar Kapoor announced the birth of his son Laksshya (also through surrogacy), there was a huge furore about this celebrity fad of having surrogate babies. The central government proposed a legislation banning commercial surrogacy, and also denying the surrogacy parenthood to singles and foreigners. The draft bill was proposed in November last year in the Lok Sabha. In January this year, the bill has been sent to a Parliamentary Standing Committee by Rajya Sabha, and the committee has been asked to give its report within 3 months. So Karan Johar's twins have come just-in-time to avoid any legal hassles!
He has expressed a desire to have children many times. He has even mentioned it in his autobiography "An Unsuitable Boy", saying, "I don't know what I'm going to do about it but I feel like I would like to be a parent. I don't know how it's going to happen but I do feel the need because I have plenty of love to offer and I'd like to take it forward. This feeling needs a release and requires a platform. And that platform could be by being a parent."
We share Karan's joy at becoming a parent, and wish him the very best!
