Most mommies swear by energy bars when it comes to looking for a quick fix to hunger pangs. You just buy them from the supermarket and store them in your pantry. As simple as that. Kids love them, grown ups love them. They are rich in energy, and often nutrition too! They are yummy and can come in handy if you have missed your breakfast. Yes, energy bars are good. But they are not cheap. Also, many brands will not give you nutrition, just loads of sugar. So why not try making them at home?
Energy Bars Recipe
2 very ripe bananas
2 cups rolled oats
1/4 cup chopped seedless dates
1/4 cup chopped nuts
1/4 cup assorted seeds like pumpkin seed, chia seeds, flaxseeds etc
Preheat your oven to 350 degrees. Meanwhile line up your baking dish with parchment paper or grease with oil/butter.
Peel the bananas and use a fok to start mashing them in a bowl. Mash till you have no chunks left. Now fold in the oats and mix well. Now add the other ingredients, mix everything up and pour into the baking dish. Spread evenly and put the dish in preheated oven.
Let the dish bake for 30 minutes or till you see the corners browning up.
Take out of the oven and place on a rack to cool.
When cooled enough, cut into squares or rectangles and start munching!
