A lot of young people are turning non vegetarians in our country only because they have been misinformed about muscle building diet. It is a general belief that building muscle needs loads and loads of protein, that can be had only from non vegetarian food sources. But this is not necessarily true.
Look at Shahid Kapoor, for instance. His lean and muscular frame is the envy of many non vegetarian men of his age group. But did you know he is a vegetarian? John Abraham was a vegetarian for many years. Even Kareena Kapoor Khan has now been a vegetarian for many years.
So where do vegetarians or even vegans get their protein power?
Vegetarian sources of protein include:
- Soy products like Tofu, soy milk, roasted soy etc.
- Beans and grams
- Leafy greens
- Hemp seeds
- Nuts and seeds
So next time you look at yourself in the mirror and blame your vegetarian diet for the flabby middle, take a moment and think about it again.
