Much has been written and read about refined foods and how they affect our health. Yet a visit to the grocery store will show you that white bread sells much more than the brown bread does. 3 Reasons Why You Should Switch to Brown Bread

1. Brown bread contains 293 calories per 100 grams, as opposed to 361 in its white cousin. Fewer calories is always a great things in any meal, right?

2. Brown bread contains all three layers of the wheat grain i.e. the Germ, Bran and Endosperm. On the other hand, white bread is made from flour that contains only the starchy Endosperm. This means that brown bread wins hands down as it contains fibre, vitamins B6 and E, magnesium, zinc, folic acid and chromium which the white bread doesn't.

3. Being high in fibre, brown bread is good for digestion and is also useful in controlling weight. On the other hand, white bread often has extra sugar added to it, which increases the gylcemic index of the bread. It is neither nutritious nor wholesome.
