Modern lifestyles are associated with many diseases that were unheard of till a few decades back. Diseases like obesity, diabetes, hypertension, high cholestrol etc are now believed to be so common that people start expecting them to strike after 40-45 years of age. Ever infertility and issues like PCOS are now so commn that we see IVF clinics in every neighborhood in every city! But this is now how it is supposed to be. Ideally, we are not supposed to suffer from any of these diseases....early man never did! These diseases are a by-product of our lifestyles that are completely unnatural. The food we eat today is unnatural, the long hours we work is unnatural, our sedentary lifestyles are unnatural! This is why all these diseases are called Lifestyle Diseases.
How To Prevent Lifestyle Diseases
There is only one way to prevent these diseases, and that is to go back to the basics. We need to become as 'natural' in our lifestyle as possible.
1. The first thing to correct is the diet. Your diet should comprise of lots of fresh fruit and vegetables. You should avoid all foods that early man did not eat! So say no to all processed and refined foods. Try to consume a wholesome and nutritious diet that gives you all essential nutrients without make you fat, lethargic or sick.
2. The next important thing to do is exercise. You must get at least 30 minutes of exercise daily. You could join a gym, go to the park, or just walk home from work. Have your pick!
3. The third very important thing to do is get adequate rest. You should give your body and your brain ample rest everyday, by getting at least 7-8 hours of sleep every night. This is essential to rejuvente your body and mind.
4. Lastly, say no to all recreational drugs, alcohol and smoking. Momentary pleasure is certainly not worth the decrease in life span that comes with the use of these things!
