The Dukan Diet was created by a doctor from France, Pierre Dukan and he now has followers all over the world. Even Jeniffer Lopez is said to have tried this diet. The fact is that this diet is not very different from Atkins diet. The difference lies in the fact that this diet tapers off into a more normal eating pattern and hence it is easier to maintain weight when you no loger are following the diet.
1. The Attack Phase: This lasts for 2-7 days. depending on how much you need to lose. During this phase, you eat only protein. So egg whites, lean meat, fish, fat free dairy and poultry only are allowed. Eat as much as you like, but stick with this food group only.
2. The Cruise Phase: This phase will last till you have lost all the weight you have decided to. Typically it will be 10 days for a Kilo. During this phase, you have to alternae between a pure protein diet, and a protein-veggie diet. On the days of protein-veggie diet, you can eat protein and as much of cooked/green vegetables as you like.
3. The Consolation Phase: This phase will last for days =10*number of kilos lost. During this phase, you can add two slices of bread, one fruit and a bit of cheese to your daily diet of protein and veggies. You can also enjoy two normal meals every week.
4. The Permanent Stabilization Phase: This is how you are supposed to eat after the diet. Just eat sensibly without worrying too much about calories etc. But for one day each week, eat as per the diet in the Attack Phase. This should help you maintain the figure you have earned!
