It was thought that "Khiladi 786" would steal a march on "Talaash", but that was not to happen. In the first weekend, Khiladi 786 has grossed about 35 odd crores while Talaash which released a week before, collected about 48 crores in its first weekend. Khiladi 786 though did manage to make a dent in Talaash's box office collections. Friday saw a steep fall in the collections of Talaash and though it did recover over the weekend, the harm had already been done.
The two movies now have yet another weekend to fight over the box office spoils before a hurricane called "Dabangg 2" hits the screens. Khiladi 786 which stars superstar Akshay Kumar in the lead role is a comic no-brainer movie while Talaash which stars yet another superstar Aamir Khan is a paranormal and serious movie. Both movies are as different as chalk and cheese. It remains to be seen if Aamir's Talaash will be able to make it to the 100 crore mark before Dabangg 2 releases. Talaash has managed to earn about 80 odd crores till date. The coming weekend should see it being able to cross the coveted 100 crore mark.
Khiladi 786 will have the going tough because the critics were not too kind to the movie though it seems the audiences have liked it. Akshay though has had a good year what with three superhits in this year of which two have grossed over 100 crores each. Will the movie make it to 100 crores? Does not seem like it. Now remains to be seen what Dabangg 2 will do at the box office. Will it be able to break the all time record of "3 Idiots" which has been Bollywood's highest grossing movie so far?
