Eighth grader Sukanya Roy recently won the Scripps National Spelling Bee contest in USA. Sukanya studies at the Abington Heights Middle School and has made the American Indian community proud with her win. She also gets to carry home around $40,000 in cash and prizes. She won all this just by spelling correctly words like "cymotrichous" and "periscii".
Sukanya is not the only Indian kid to win this award. In fact, Indian Americans have won this title for the fourth consecutive time this year. Indians have won this title 9 out of 12 times in the last 12 years. We sure feel happy and proud about the achievements of Indian kids in America.
