100 Years of Celebrating Women.

Since it's inception, United Nations has recognized International Women's Day (IWD) as a way to coordinate international efforts to uphold women's rights and participation in social, political and economic areas. UN designated the year 1975 as the "International Women's Year".

Women's organizations and governments around the world have also observed International Women's Day (IWD) annually on March 8th by holding large-scale events that honor women's advancement while diligently reminding of the continued vigilance and action required to ensure that women's equality is reached and maintained in all aspects of life.

What's happening today in India to honour IWD:

- Air India will operate “all-women crew” flights between Bangalore and New Delhi on Tuesday to commemorate the 100 years. Bangalore-based pilot Capt V Roopa will be in command of the Airbus A319, while Capt Niranjana Ashok will be her co-pilot with all women crew members.
