Where To Go

You definitely do not want to travel to a hot or humid place in the scorching sun. So let us leave out sands and beaches this summer. If you are looking for a cool retreat, we are talking about some serious “hill station” vacationing. There are a lot of options available for you to choose from. The best hill stations are in the North India, but the Western Ghats are also very attractive for vacationers, especially the weekenders.

Himachal Pradesh has various interesting hill stations that attract a large number of tourists every summer. Shimla, Kullu, Manali, Dalhousie, Lahaul & Spiti valley, Kinnaur and Dharamshala are a few popular summer destinations in HP. In Uttarakhand, you can visit places like Dehradun, Massorie, Nainital, Haridwar, Rishikesh, Rudraprayag and Paonta Sahib. Another popular hill station is Mount Abu, in Rajasthan.

Jammu and Kashmir have some very scenic summer retreats, but these are not very popular destinations due to the terror threat perceived by vacationers.

In Maharashtra, you can visit cool spots like Khandala, Lonavala, Malshej Ghat, Amboli, Panchgani, Matheran, Mahabaleshwar and many other smaller ones. In the South India, popular hill stations are Ooty, Kodiakanal, Coorg, Coonoor, Devikulam, Chikaldhara etc.

For the adventurous people, the best place to go to is Leh, Ladakh. This is an exotic vacation destination where you can experience many things like a new religion and culture, adventure sports, festivals, monasteries, natural beauty of unexplored spots and even glaciers. Leh is the perfect place for young couples who can travel and explore adventures of Leh without having to worry about responsibilities.
