Do you keep missing family parties or exciting get-togethers that your friends plan out because you are stuck closing your tasks at the office? Is it very usual for you to ignore your home for your work? Is your family always mad at you for not giving time to them? Does the balance between work and home keep slipping between your busy fingers?
Easy, woman! The work-life balance is not so difficult to achieve here are some hints on how you can do so:
To create the life you want, first define whats most important to you, then develop a plan that helps you prioritize and balance those things.
Assess your financial needs with your husband to see if you can cut back on work hours.
Find out if your employer will allow telecommuting, job sharing or a part-time schedule.
Put a cap on time spent on work, whether you are in an office or at home. Let your family and co-workers know what those limits are. With clear parameters youll work more effectively, and your family may be more supportive. When the time is up, stop working and focus on your family. Make vacations strictly off-limits for work.
Learn how to switch gears. Turn off your computer at 6:00 p.m. Stop multitasking at dinnertime so you can focus fully on your kids or spouse. Make 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. a no-phone zone.
Allow yourself some completely unscheduled free time - even if it feels odd at first.
Use the weekend for a real change of pace. If you work at a computer all day, crank up the volume on the weekend with a long drive, gardening or a nice get-together with your friends.
Build in time thats just for you. Schedule time for your husband, kids, even in-laws and friends. This should be a part of your daily or at least weekly schedule because free time is as important as your work-time!
