Weight Training For Hot Bods: Myth No. 2

Summary:

Don't let that misinformed friend stop you from lifting weights. In fact, weight training is said to be the biggest fat burner ever. Here's another myth women have about weights. Let's bust this one too...

Authors:

So you have always wanted to try lifting weights (but did not coz your friend said you would develop big muscles like Arnie)??? Well hopefully our first article in this series helped in busting at least one myth about women and weight-lifting. We discussed how our bodies are not very different from mens and how we could benefit as much from weights as our men do. Now heres the lowdown on the second myth about women and resistance training

Myth #2: Muscle Weighs More Than Fat

BUSTED: One excuse that women put up for not working out is that muscle weighs more than fat. The fact of the matter is that a kilo of muscle and a kilo of fat weigh the same, a kilo. A kilo of muscle is more dense and takes up less space than a kilo of fat does. It is true that if you compare the same volume of muscle and fat, the muscle will weigh more. But dont you see the advantage in that? If you maintain your weight (not lose any) and work out, you can actually become thinner by losing fat and gaining muscle.

Muscle allows you to eat more food without getting fat because muscle is the only body material that is metabolically active. Once you put muscle on your body you will burn an additional twenty to thirty calories an hour. So you could actually eat the chocolate cream pastry that you eye in the pastry shop every time you pass bywithout becoming fat!!!
