2008 has been great for Prachi Desai aka Bani of Kasamh Se. She won the popular dance show Jhalak Dikhla Ja this year and she also won a prestigious break on the big screen. Farhan Akhtar’s acting debut vehicle Rock On is the launching pad for Prachi as she joins the league of stars who moved from the small screen to the big screen.

But what will become of Kasamh Se? Ekta Kapoor is known to carry her shows on and on and on. Actors may come and actors may go, but the show must go on. So obviously Balaji had been on the lookout for the new Bani. They had been looking for a face that can carry on the legacy of Bani without hurting the TRPs. All this searching has finally paid off and Ekta has found her new “Bani”.

Remember Gurdeep Kohli, the pretty lady from shows like Sanjeevani & Sindoor. That’s the new “Bani” for you. Gurdeep took a break from the telly after she got married. Recently, you saw her in a short role in the long running afternoon series Bhabhi.

This is the first time that Gurdeep has been signed on for a Balaji show. We do wonder if Gurdep is worried about the security of her work in the show. Considering the fact that Balaji is bringing back Smriti Iraani into their hit series Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi, all the new people taking up old characters in Balaji shows have their hearts going dhak dhak. Let us hope Gurdeep does not meet the fate of the current Tulsi.
