On a stormy night, the sky crackles with thunder, electricity and impending revelations, as a young mother lies in a deep state of anaesthetized sleep, unaware of the critical surgery she is undergoing in the operation theatre

The birth of these conjoined twin babies triggers off a bitter-sweet tale of survival, ambitions, music and unconditional love. Amber (sky) and Dhara (earth), two sisters joined at the hip, share a liver between them. Abandoned by their father, Amber and Dhara are brought up by their mother, Lata and their grandfather in the idyllic hilly town of Panchgani.

Life is never easy for the girls people stare jeer at their deformity treat them like freaks, however, Lata is determined to nurture her girls into independent and successful women.

Amber and Dhara grow up as two very distinct personalities: If Amber is outgoing and spunky, Dhara is more grounded and sensible, if Amber is aggressive and easily annoyed, Dhara is calm and patient hmmmm sounds interesting!

This is the very unique and captivating tale of two judi hui bahanon ki! And this interesting Kahani did not just hold a big surprise with its extraporinary protagonists, but even opened with a big banging surprise! Sony had been flashing regular messages that they would come up with two big surprises at 8pm on Sunday just before the Grand Finale of Indian Idol.
The Surprise did turn out to be a really big one, as the first episode of Amber Dhara was shown on Sunday, that is, one day prior to the scheduled start of the serial.

The best part was that this time the Sony people even managed to conceal the surprise from the media! Thus, no aandar ki baat was revealed on the 100+n news channels floating on our television sets! The surprise was a TRUE one!

The performances of all the characters, especially the mother of the twins, played by Mona Ambegaonkar, are brilliant. Her facial expressions, emoting and sensitive performance, truly gives us an insight about a mother who has been faced with such an unusual challenge.

Overall, a serial to look forward too everyday atleast till they dont start stretching the elastic! ;)
