Finally Sallu did get a chance to stand beside his ‘first love’… Aishwarya! So what if it’s not in person, but in... well, statues?

On 15 January 2008, amongst hoards of fans, Salman Khan proudly revealed his Wax Statue at Madame Tussauds. The impressive statue is a part of the special Bollywood section alongside the other three star statues of Amitabh Bachchan, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Shah Rukh Khan . Oh! Did I say Aishwara?

So, now Sallu too has joined the league of prestigious stars who have their wax statues at Madame Tussauds! First, Amitabh, then SRK and Aishwarya and now Salman Khan… it seems our desi stars are really gaining popularity in pardes!

The actor was chosen over nine other super stars for this prestigious ‘position’. The selection was done on the basis of a public poll conducted last August and over 10,000 people had voted for him!

He made it to the central London attraction after beating off competition from Madhuri Dixit , Hrithik Roshan , Lata Mangeshkar , Abhishek Bachchan , Rani Mukherjee , Karan Johar , Kajol , Priyanka Chopra and John Abraham! Oops... Abhishek Bachchan!

And guess what? The clothes that his statue is wearing have been chosen and donated to the sculpturers by Salman himself! After all, he cannot compromise on his style… be it in person or in figure!

Last year in October, Salman was measured and photographed by expert artists in Mumbai to kick-start the painstaking work on his wax idol.

The museum hopes that the installation of this new statue will attract many more South Asian and British Asian visitors. Dude, our Sallu is really popular in the west!
