Regression at its Zenith

If you think that incorporation of "honor killings" inspired by Arushi murder case is the only regressive thing at Balaji, u r so wrong!!!

Let us take the example of serial Kis Des Mein Hai Mera Dil. Two adult women are beaten on a daily basis by a relative (chachi) and are regularly thrashed and publicly humiliated. One of these two women is financially independent with a nice job at a five star hotel. Yet, they chose to live like complete doormats and take all the insult and physical thrashings without a murmur. Ever wonder why?

Kayamath is another serial where a woman watches her husband being stolen from her. While he has had an attack of amnesia (don't they all?), the wife decides that she will not tell him abt their marriage. Let him remember on his own. Meanwhile, she will suffer all insults and humiliations silently as the "other woman" takes control of the "poor husband"!

In "Bidaai" they show that a girl who is dark complexioned cannot get a suitable groom. Really? Do dark girls die spinsters?

I wonder why does Ekta/Balaji take pride in showing women as meek and dumb? Dont women have any self respect? Why are these production houses glorifying the regression that used to be in our society decades back? While we r trying to move forward and empower women in our country, Balaji Telefilms is trying its best to throw us at least 50 years back!!!!! Is Ekta really a woman? Or is she just a number crunching machine? Is TRP all that matters to her? Doesn't she understand that thru the telly, she influences the thought process and views of millions of people in this country?
