Modern life is such that all of us face many stresses at work, home and with family. So how does one go about the business of dealing with stress without letting it take a toll on you? Taking undue stress at work not only affects your health but may also reduce your performance. Professionalism at work, wanting to be in control, competition at work and trying to please everyone can be the reasons behind stress at work. Whatever the reason may be, our Munna says tension lene ka nahi, tension dene ka!!!

Reassure Yourself:

When faced with stress, dont send alarming messages to yourself. Instead try to give yourself some reassuring talk (not aloud of course). Be rational and deal with the stress inducing situation in a rational way after evaluating all facets of the situation. Havent you heard about clouds and silver linings???

Replace Negative thoughts with Positive Ones:

This will take practice, but its worth all the effort. When faced with a stressful situation, we tend to imagine the worst possible outcome. But we rarely give a thought to how likely the worst outcome is to come true. Perhaps there is an aspect of the situation that has been overlooked. Look for solutions, not for problems.

Learn To Unwind and Relax:

For some people its music, for others a sport. Find out what works for you. Learn to relax and unwind with a sport, activity or hobby. Dancing is a great stress buster and helps you keep in shape. The best stress buster for me is watching a Munna Bhai movie!

Overcome Anxiety, Panic And Phobias:

No matter how bad the situation may be, there is no need to panic. If you are prone to anxiety attacks, stress management is even more important for you. You may want to meet with a psychologist and get some help for panic/anxiety attacks.

Laughter, The Best Medicine:

Its true. Laughing leaves such a feel-good atmosphere for everyone. Watch some comedy movies/shows, subscribe to some internet humor, read some jokes or even cartoons in the papers. Try to include humor and fun in your daily life on an ongoing basis.

Friends Are The Best Stress-Busters:

When stressed out, nothing works as well as a chat with a dear friend. The friend could be your spouse or your childhood friend or even a colleague from work. Friends are very important, so maintain your friendships and nurture them with care.
