Make-Up Tips: Get Your Foundation Right

Authors:

No matter how expensive cosmetics you use, they won’t have the desired effect if you can’t apply foundation properly. Applying foundation is really an art, albeit not a difficult one. Here’s the process, described step-by-step to help you learn the art.

What You Need

• Foundation matching your skin tone
• Make-Up Sponge
• Concealer
• Face Powder

The key to getting your foundation right is to stick with your natural skin tone. Man women buy a shade lighter, assuming that it would make them look fairer. But what it actually does is make them look all painted up like a wall. So look for the color that matches your skin and do inspect in daylight before buying.

How To Get It On?

• The first thing to be done before applying your foundation and the rest of your make-up is cleansing, toning and moisturizing.

• Now pour some of the foundation on to your hand and spread it around. If you have a clear skin, you can dilute your foundation with some moisturizer. Now with a damp sponge, pick up some foundation to apply. Pick up very little of the stuff and keep coming again and again for more.

• Start with the center of your face. Dab some foundation in the center and spread out evenly. Spread outwards, and not downwards. So your movements should be directed out towards the hairline and the jawline.

• It is very important to blend in the foundation properly along the jawline. This is the place where it is easiest to spot the make-up.

• If you have any blemishes, use a concealer to hide them. Applying a concealer before the foundation will not be of much use as the foundation will almost erase it off. So apply the concealer after you apply your foundation.

• Dab some powder onto the face to set the foundation immediately after applying it.

• You can also apply foundation on select spots in order to even out the skin tone. Do apply some powder after that to let the foundation set and hold longer.
