9. Alakta niveshen
How can a girl’s makeup be complete without the lipstick? Did you know that lipsticks have been a favourite among women since ancient times? In those days, herbal lipsticks were made using beeswax and the flower's petals of kusumba.
10. Hasta sushobhitam
Now, the hands of the girl are cleaned and decorated with jewellery.
11. Paad sushobhitam
The feet of the girl are cleaned and lined with Alitah (a red paste used to decorate hands and legs).
12. Maha vastra pridhanam
A bride will put on her heavy wedding dress and a married woman will wear a saree with heavy work. You can choose to put on your favourite saree or lehanga for a similar look and feel.
13. Pushpa dharanam
The girl wears colourful, pretty and sweet smelling flower garlands or gajjraas on her hair, around the neck, as a armlet or around the wrist. This gives a mild aroma to the body. Wearing a perfume is easier, but this will give your body a beautiful fragrance that is incomparable!
14. Alankaar dharnam
The bride’s body is decorated with ornaments that give her a stunning look. Among them are mekahla (a chain worn around the waist), anklets, armlets, chokers and heavy bangles.
15. Tambul sevnam
The bride is given tambulam, opum or paan to chew, which serves as a mouth freshener.
16. Darpan vilokan
The decked up bride looks at herself into the mirror and observes carefully, if there is need for any finishing touches.
