• Clean your microwave oven: If you have bits of dried hardened foodstuff piling inside your microwave, just mix the juice of 3 lemons with 1 cup water. In a microwave safe bowl, microwave the mixture on High for 7-8 minutes. The evaporation of the liquid will make the food easy to wipe off, and your oven will also smell very fresh.
• Get rid of ants: Are ants making your life hell? Squirt the juice of lemons into any cracks you see in the corners of your house, especially near the entrance. Cover the doorways and window sills as well. And when you mop the floor, add some lemon juice to the water. Lime is a natural insect repellant.
• Detergent assistant: If you have stained or to-be-bleached clothes, just add some lemon juice to the washing machine water during “wash” cycle. This will make your clothes come out lightly bleached and smelling fresh too.
• Cooking rice: Most women find it difficult to cook rice without making a big sticky blob of it! Lemon juice work wonders here too. Just add the juice of a lemon to the boiling water when you cook rice. Your humble lemon will take care of the rest!
• Lighten your skin: Lemon juice is a natural bleaching agent. Apply some juice directly to the desired area and let it sit for 15 minutes. Wash off with cool water. Lime juice can be used to lighten freckles and age spots too.
• Exfoliate your skin: Scrubbing your facial skin with a lemon rind and juice is a great way to improve your complexion. It also helps you get rid of blackheads and pimples.
• Clean your chopping board: Scrubbing the kitchen chopping board with a lemon rind helps fight bacteria and also gives it a fresh scent.
• Deal with dandruff: Rub into your scalp the juice of one lemon and let it stay on for 30-45 minutes. Later rinse off with cold water and shampoo.
• Deodorize the fridge: Is you refrigerator smelling nasty? Just dip a sponge in lemon juice and place it in the fridge for 3-4 hours. Your fridge will start to smell fresh again.
• Clean brass: All those precious artifacts in brass/bronze/copper or steel can now be cleaned using lemon juice. Just mix a little salt with lemon juice and use the paste to get rid of the tarnish.
• For pretty elbows: Are your elbows dry and scaly? Probably they are ugly and unsightly too. Mix a little baking soda with lemon juice and use the paste to exfoliate your elbows. Do this regularly for a week and you will be amazed at the difference it makes to your elbows!
