Last week Suhaana went to a designer boutique in Delhi to buy something to wear at her sister’s engagement party. As usual, looking through racks of clothes and trying on a few, only added to her irritation with herself. She was having a hard time controlling her anger, frustration and depression. Tia (who works at the boutique as a Sales Assistant), asked Suhaana if she needed any help. Embarrassed to the core, Suhaana muttered a quick “No”! But Tia decided to help out Suhaana anyway and tactfully suggested a few items that she thought would suit Suhaana.

For The Hourglass Bodies
You are the Diva just like Marilyn Monroe, all the men love you, and all the women hate you! You can carry off any dress with great style. But it would be a shame to have such a “rocking” figure and to wear just ‘anything’!
You should show off your perfect body by wearing form-fitting clothes. Frilly and lacy clothes or baggy style clothes are not for you. All they will do is hide your assets and make you look fatter than you really are. To look slim, fit and youthful, choose corset-type tops, wrap around skirts, pencil cut bottoms and low waist jeans.
For The Bottom Heavy Pears
Accepting your defects is the most important step towards rectifying them. You cannot change the shape of your body structure, but you can sure have a wardrobe that flatters your body! Make the most of your assets i.e. those lovely shoulders, that cute waist and your slender arms.
The key is to keep the focus on your upper body, which is really quite sexy! So wear sleeveless tops, halter necks, spaghetti strapped blouses, backless blouses etc. Long kurtis & long tops, worn with jeans, work best for this body type as they camouflage the problem areas quite beautifully. To hide your thunder thighs and fat ass, wear long, flowing skirts that flare towards the bottom. When wear pants, go in for the flat fronts and give side pockets a miss. The best colors to wear on your legs are dark ones as they have a slimming effect.
For The Top Heavy Apples
Not all top heavy people are as sexy as Catherine Zeta Jones. In fact, most top heavy women have big tummies to put up with. How do you hide the bulge on the stomach?
If you think that wearing layers of clothes can hide that tummy, you’ve got it all wrong. Why don’t you try to shift the focus on to your assets instead? Wear deep necked tops that highlight your cleavage. When buying bottoms, choose skirts and jeans that fasten on the side. Front pockets, flaps and buttons highlight the big tummy. Since most women in this category have nice and shapely legs, they should be highlighted too. Wear wedge heeled sandals to show off those legs in a knee-length skirt. Monochromatic dresses tend to give a long-ish appearance that takes away the focus from your width. So try to wear similar colors on top and bottom.
No matter what your body looks like, you can make it look better with the right clothes. You do not need to starve yourself or undergo cosmetic surgery to look slimmer and sexier. All you need is to know how to dress yourself!
