Just understand how much bad carbon we add to the climate a serious view focussed by R S Tomar

Now the time  has come to consider the serious reality of climate change.

There are ways in which everyone can contribute to help the climate in their own small-big way and individuals can work towards shrinking their carbon footprint.

There's a way of calculating how much bad carbon you add to the climate.

One can go online to a number of sites to calculate this, like carbonfootprint.com or climatecare.org.

Fill out a simple form and one can figure out just how much you need to make up for, since you start burning carbon from the time you turn on your car ignition.

On a flight from Mumbai to New York, one burns about 4 tonnes of CO2 per trip. That means you need to pay nearly Rs 2350 to offset the carbon damage.

There are several other ways to help the climate:

  • For starters we can plant a tree or donate to someone who will.
  • Invest in alternative energy sources, like a windmill farm.
  • Use eco-friendly gadgets in your house and office.
  • Whenever possible use other means of travel like trains and buses, that emit lesser amount of carbonic gases than cars and flights.
