Here’s another bold competitor ready to race the world of small screen entertainment: NDTV Imagine.

It plans to beat the heavy, well-established competition around it by emerging as a ‘unique’ channel, targeting the ‘unique’ family audience with its ‘unique’ reality shows and ‘unique’ remakes of popular old programmes like Ramayan! What a ‘unique’ idea!

Nevertheless, it has managed to roll in some of the best production houses including Sagar Arts, Hats Off Productions, Rajshri Films, SOL, Sphere Origins, Endemol India, Synergy Adlabs, DJ’s A Creative Unit.

The channel is being headed by former Star TV head, Sameer Nair. To add a new flavour, film director Karan Johar has been made a minor shareholder and a major ‘ideator’ for the channel along with being the ‘face of the channel’ (creative consultant and brand ambassador).

The challenge is not so much to win the race of entertainment, but to win over people so that they start paying to cheer for this race! Although it's currently available as part of the existing package on Tata Sky, it is not going to stay there forever. You will have to pay to watch another set of ‘K’ serials with a slightly new flavour… Karan Johar’s flavour (You think Karan Johar can stay away from ‘K’ for long?)!

The budding channel is here with the true spirit of sportsmanship! It has plans to take part in other races too, including the race of movie channel to bring the latest to people’s drawing rooms before it is even out of the Bollywood countdowns. Not just this, NDTV Imagine also plans to hit the big screen with a movie production house!
