Description

This annual festival of Indian classical music is organised by the Indian Music Group of St Xavier’s College in Mumbai. The three-day festival brings together some of the top talents in classical music for open-air performances. The inaugural performance at this year’s Janfest will consist of a fusion performance by Pandit Hariprasad Chaurasia and the jazz composer Louis Banks. The remaining two days are set aside for the purists. Vocalists like Ustad Rashid Khan and Ashwini Bhide-Deshpande feature in the programme alongside instrumentalists including Tarun Bhattacharya and Pandit Vishva Mohan Bhatt. The piece de resistance is the final evening’s performance by the great master of Hindustani vocal music, Pandit Bhimsen Joshi.
