Admit your mistakes: If at all you have made a mistake at work, be quick to admit it. Owning up is seen as a positive action by your boss. When you own up a mistake, focus on what you have learned and not on what went wrong.
Be self-reliant: You are not in school anymore. Take full responsibility for your work and be resourceful. Learn how to do things yourself instead of running to boss for little matters and queries.
Be presentable and courteous: Taking care of your appearance is as important as putting in hard work. This doesnt mean that you need to be the mirror cracking type, but you should look smart, neat and presentable. You should also be courteous to all your colleagues, superiors and subordinates.
Be flexible: Working environments require you to be flexible. This means you dont crib if you are asked to work on a particular Saturday. If you need to put in extra hours at times, you should be OK with it. Similarly if you are asked to travel to another branch in the same or another city for a couple of days, you should be open to the challenge.
Separate your work and personal life: Office is not the place to gossip about your spouse or to bitch about your in laws. Leave your personal life behind when you go to work.
