So guys, I'm in Simla with hubby for our vacation. We reached here last evening and are qute enjoying it here. The weather is really great. It snowed yesterday morning, but we missed the snowfall. Sure we cud see the snow all over the place.
What I particularly want to mention is the journey to Shimla. We reached Kalka by road and boarded the "Himalyan Queen" from there. This is a toy train (narrow gauge) from Kalka to Shimla. The ride lasted for 5 hours. But every minute was worth it. The train chugs at around 25 km an hour. It goes through 102 tunnels and crosses 889 bridges. The longest tunnel is around 1.4 km long. The sights and the scenery are things you don't want to miss. As compared to the road journey, it feels much safer and secure. Motion sickness is also taken care of. The trains stop at a few stations and you can gorge on hot samosas, patties, pakoras and tea. Even some foreigners were seen sampling this fare. Almost everyone was taking pics and having the time of their life.
So the next time you want to take a vacation, choose Simla, and go by the toy train. Even your kids will thank you for it. Will post pics after I'm back in Delhi.
