So you have no idea who Samir Karnik is? Don’t worry, few people remember this guy! Samir is the film maker who gave us two “very shoddy” films, Kyun Ho Gaya Na and Nanhe Jaiselmer. In spite of big names like Aishwarya Rai & Viveik Oberoi (yeah yeah, Viveik was a big name back then), “Kyun Ho Gaya Na” bombed miserably. No chemistry, no content, no box office success and no critical acclaim! Years later, Samir gave film making another shot and “Nanhe Jaiselmer” met with the same fate.
So now, this brave man has made yet another attempt at film making and “Heroes” is the result of his renewed efforts. Having read this history about Karnik, you would probably shelve all your plans to catch “Heores” this weekend. But hey, listen to the rest of the story!
Heroes is an unusual film. You will go to the theatres, expecting nothing. But you will carry memorable impressions of this film much after you leave.
The promos show men in uniforms, but “Heroes” is not a war film. As being promoted, it is the story of two young men traveling across the country to deliver 3 letters. These are letters to the families of deceased soldiers. The film takes you on an emotional roller coaster and touches a few chords. More than anything, you will find yourself wanting to salute every soldier who risks his life so that you can be safe in your home!
So will this Sunny Deol, Mithun Chakraborty, Bobby Deol, Salmaan Khan, Preity Zinta, Sohail Khan starrer be able to pull the crowds? More essentially, will it prove to be third time lucky for Karnik? Looks like Karnik is in for a pleasant surprise coz the extended Divali weekend is bound to be a crowd puller anyway! In an era where a film is declared a hit or flop immediately after the opening weekend, “Heroes” promises to be a surefire hit as it will be able to leverage the best out of the two extended weekends it will get!
Good Luck “Heroes” and Good Luck Samir!
