Looks like this is the age of makeovers! Every channel worth its salt has at least one show on makeovers. There are reality shows based on this format-can you believe that? Wardrobe makeover, hair makeover, make-up makeover, and the list goes on. Now if you are interested in any of these makeovers, believe me, they will cost you a little fortune. But if you want an instant makeover that doesn’t cost a penny, eyebrow makeover is the way to go!

It’s easy, it’s fun, it’s free and you can do it yourself. Altering your eyebrows can give the same effect as an instant facelift. Don’t believe it? Try it yourself yaar!

Get The Tools

Since you are not going to buy these tools every other day, invest in a good kit. Your eyebrow kit should include a neat pair of small scissors, a small mirror (magnifying, if possible), an eyebrow comb and an eyebrow pencil. If you don’t trust your own judgment, getting an eyebrow stencil is a good idea. Better the quality of your tools, better will be the results you get. And of course, they will last longer too!

The First Step

Before you do anything else, you need to trim your brows. How do you do that? First of all, comb upwards all the hair. Any hair extending beyond the natural line of the brow needs to be trimmed off with the scissors. Repeat this procedure after combing down all the brow hair. This step in itself will make you look much younger instantly.

Determining The Shape Of your Brow

* To determine where your brow should begin, hold a thin pencil against the side of your nose (not at the base of the nose). The point where the pencil meets the brow is exactly where your brow should begin.

* Similarly, hold a pencil diagonally against the base of your nostril. The pencil should start at the nostril and go through the point where your eye ends. Now the point where the inner edge of the pencil meets the brow is the point where the brow should end.

* To determine if you have correctly shaped your brows, follow a simple thumb rule. The space between your two brows must be equal to, or slightly greater than, the length of your one eye.

Tips And Pointers

* The most important rule to remember is to exercise moderation. Do not over-tweeze or over-pluck. Know when to stop. Over plucked eyebrows can make you look old and haggard instantly.

* Pluck the hair in the direction of their growth. Try to tweeze the hair from its base. You don’t want to end up just cutting the hair or with ingrown hair. Pluck each hair individually, for the same reason.

* Regularly wipe and clean your tools with alcohol to get rid of any oil build-up.

* Use an eyebrow pencil to fill in sparse brows. To get a natural effect, use feathery strokes and soften the pencil marks with your fingertips.

* If you have curly, wavy or unruly brow hair that won’t obey your command, use a brow gel. If you don’t have brow gel, use any hair gel or hair spray dabbed on with your fingertips. This will keep the unruly hair in place all day.

* If you end up with red spots, swelling or pain after the tweezing session, use ice or calamine lotion to get some relief.

After you are done with your instant eyebrow makeover, do let us know how it went!
