And of course there are better ways to get your boss to genuinely notice you, than by dressing up “appropriately”!
The key is to show your boss what you are capable of and highlighting your skills.
If you are working for a large organization, it of course brings up your worth outside the office because you are associated with such a big company. But within the organization, there are good chances that you get lost amongst the hundreds of employees.
Building your importance and making your presence felt at your workplace take some amount of effort!
Interact across departments
Don’t stay confined to your own department or within people you are working with everyday. Go beyond work, expand your social circle within office and let them know why you are there!
Gradually, people who feel comfortable with you will start involving you in their projects and spread your name across other sections of the company.
Get noticed at meetings
Speak up at the meetings. But don’t just speak anything for the sake of looking ‘active’. This you can leave for the school kidos! Here, you need to prepare well for the meetings to make sure you always have something to contribute to the discussion.
Get the credit you deserve!
If you do any good work, ensure that people get to know about it. And if you are working hard, let people know that too! Don’t let your efforts go waste. Every bit counts for your promotion!
Offer to take up challenges
Take up projects that no one else is willing to! They may either be too boring or too much of a pain to handle. Take them up if others refuse. You will surely come into the limelight! But remember, you should be prepared well, to acomplish the additional responsibility of completing the challenging job!
