Get Rid Of Those Dark Circles!

Most of us dread these words: Oh God! Whats that under your eyes? You look so tired! Or something like this being said to you perpetually: Are you unwell? You look sick. Well, this is what dark circles under your eyes can do to you. Apart from making you look years older (a womans nightmare), it can rob you of your beauty making you look tired and haggard. Dark circles under your eyes are caused due to numerous factors. Prominent among these are stress, pollution, tension, depression, spending time under the sun without an effective sunscreen, lack of adequate sleep, poor diet, fatigue, allergies and last but not the least your genes. But all of these causes have cures which are useful and can work to make you look more beautiful. Lets have a look at the remedies.

First things first. Learn to relax. Stress is a major contributor to making us look older than our years. Learn to let go! Meditating can help you calm those nerves. Listening to music, reading books can lift your mood.

Getting enough sleep is very important. Memsaab had in an earlier article talked about the need for all of us to get good sleep. Getting lesser sleep means being fatigued, not alert and having to resort to more tea/coffee. All of these only contribute to making your skin look older.

Drink enough water. Make it a point to drink at least between 8 10 full glasses of water everyday. They help flush out toxins from our body.

Apply cold cream under your eyes every night before you sleep.

A paste of turmeric powder mixed with pineapple juice can do wonders. Try alternating between applying the cold cream one night and the paste on the other night.

Dip cotton balls in cold water or rose water and put these on your eyes for around 10 to 15 minutes.

Apply almond oil daily under your eyes for around 2 3 weeks. Soon you will see the difference.

Application of a paste of crushed almonds mixed with milk can do wonders in erasing the dark circles under your eyes.

Try the classical home remedy. Place two thin slices of raw cucumber over your closed eyes for 15-20 minutes. You can also use thinly striped potatoes under the eyes.

Squeeze out a cold, used tea bag and carefully place it over your eyes for about 10 to 15 minutes. Ensure that the tea doesnt get inside your eye.

Drink tomato juice with some mint leaves, lemon juice and salt to get rid of those tainted circles.

Eat foods that are loaded with vitamins and iron. Include fresh fruits and vegetables in your diet.

Last but not the least, when out in the sun, use an effective sunscreen of 20 SPF or higher. Put on your sunglasses and walk out confidently to take your place under the sun.
