Rajkummar Rao 'proud' of Newton winning two more awards
Versatile actor Rajkummar Rao is 'proud' that his Bollywood film 'Newton' has bagged two more awards and 'continues to win hearts'.
The comedy drama film has bagged International Federation of Film Critics (FIPRESCI) Best International Film award and Network for the Promotion of Asian Cinema's (NETPAC) Best Asian Film award at the 22nd International Film Festival of Kerala (IIFK 2017).
After hearing the news, the City Light actor took to his Twitter handle, writing, "Super proud #Newton."
The movie's production company Drishyam Films also took to its Twitter handle and wrote, "#Newton continues to win hearts. Bags FIPRESCI (Best International Film) and NETPAC (Best Asian Film) award at @IFFKerala. Super proud!"
Despite receiving accolades at various film festivals, India’s official entry for the Best Foreign Language Film at the Oscars 2018, Newton, is out of the race for the honour.
The film revolves around an idealistic election officer, who manages to hold elections in a Chhattisgarh village despite the threat of Naxalite violence.
