The West Indies opener smashed a 38-ball 77 and also became the first man to reach 10000 runs in T20 cricket.
Chris Gayle and Virat Kohli turned up the fireworks on Tuesday night in Rajkot, as Royal Challengers Bangalore ran away with a 21-run win at the Saurashtra Cricket Association Stadium.
On the other hand, The Lions got off to a poor start with leg-spinner Youzvendra Chahal striking early on.
But, Brendon McCullum played a stellar innings of 72 runs from 44 balls, to keep Gujarat in the fight till the end.
Ishan Kishan also had a good day with the bat, as he belted 39 runs from just 16 balls, but his efforts came too little too late, as RCB waltzed their way to the win.
Chahal produced a fine performance with the ball, ending the day with figures of 3-31. He managed to remove Gujarat's top three batsmen -- Smith, Suresh Raina, and the dangerous McCullum.
Earlier, Virat Kohli and Chris Gayle got RCB off to a flying start, posting an opening partnership of 122 runs from 76 balls.
Gayle, who scored 77 runs from 38 balls, had hit five 4s and seven 6s.
While the two RCB openers departed after a great start, Travis Head and Kedar Jadhav picked up the baton, as they launched into the overdrive in the last couple of overs, scoring 30 and 38 runs, both off 16 balls.
