There is a lot of focus on health and fitness these days. Everyone wants to be thin and healthy. But most people tend to overlook the health of their skin. Remember health and fitness is incomplete if you have dull or sagging skin. The key to beauty is lovely and glowing skin that speaks volumes about the state of your good health. After all, don’t you want all your friends and neighbors to ask “Tumhaare face pe yeh glow kaisa? Is it love?”

Love or n love, healthy glowing skin is possible for everyone. It can be one of your biggest assets when you are trying to woo someone. Lovely faces are very hard to refuse, you see! So here are some tips and pointers on how to get the natural healthy glow on your lovely face.

• For a healthy and glowing skin, you need to cut down on spices and oily/fried food.

Eating fresh fruit and vegetables is a great idea as they are good sources of antioxidants.

• Start your day with a glass of vegetable juice. You can use bitter gourd (karela), carrots, lauki etc for making the juice. Vegetables can be used individually to make the juice or you may have a mixed vegetable juice.

Fenugreek seeds, neem leaves and karela are good options to cleanse your system and detox the body. At least once a week, you must detox the body.

• Your diet should contain whole grains, lots of fruit & vegetables, fresh curds, legumes, eggs and tea. You should focus on having a nutritious and well balanced diet.

Avoid binging and avoid fast food. Colas and other aerated drinks are not good for your skin just like alcohol.

Stop smoking if you want to look and feel healthy. Smoking is bad for your skin and for your overall health. Habitual smoking shaves off a couple of years from anyone’s life.

Drink plenty of water everyday. Water is the panacea for your skin. It cleanses, improves skin tone and keeps the skin moisturized. It also helps in dealing with acne. Washing your face with cold water a couple of times everyday is very helpful in keeping the face clean and free of acne.

• Monounsaturated fats found in olive oil, fish and nuts are good for your skin.

• Your diet should contain a lot of fiber to relieve constipation. So focus on wholegrain cereals. Inclusion of bulking agents like isabgol is also highly recommended.

• The importance of exercise can just not be stressed enough. Yoga is great to improve the health of your skin.

Avoid high calorie and sugary foods.

Foods rich in iron like spinach, turnip, mustard leaves, soy, fenugreek leaves, radish leaves, peaches, dates, watermelon etc must be included in your diet. These are the foods that provide the healthy glow to your face.

• For cleansing the skin, raw milk is an excellent option. Limestone is also a good cleanser. Rubbing raw milk and lemon juice over elbows is known to lighten the skin tone. Papaya pulp is also known to be an excellent facial scrub. Cucumber slices placed over eyes can help in relieving from dark shadows under eyes.

One thing you need to remember is that no heath drink or supplement can make up for any excesses in your diet. Avoiding high calorie foods, sugary foods and oily or fried foods is very important. Skin and general health are correlated. Take care of one and the other will naturally improve.
