Yessssssssssss! The Shilpa saga goes on and on and on. Shilpa Shetty, who was written off as a nobody till six months back, is the favorite face of India today. She went, she tolerated and she conquered. And she conquered not just the Big Brother but the whole world.

Latest in the Shilpa success story is her felicitation with an honorary doctorate degree by the University of Leeds. Shilpa now joins the great stalwarts of Indian cinema like Mr. Bachchan, Mr. Yash Chopra and Ms. Shabaana Aazmi as the recipient of this great honor. And she is also the youngest Indian actor to receive this honor.

I wonder how the other students being felicitated feel on this honorary degree issue. Their years of hard work are equated with just being tolerant when someone abuses you. (Some people would not be as polite as I am.) If hearing a few gaalis and insults every day can get you to the felicitation, I wanna have Jade Goody showering me with all those insults. And of course, I will take it all lying down. Please Jade, come and harass me too.

The media is divided on what exactly the felicitation is all about. A section of the media is reporting the doctorate to be awarded for Shilpas contribution to the Indian cinema. (Since when did Univ of Leeds become an expert on Indian cinema? Theyve been giving out these honorary degrees like crazy, man!) At the same time, another section of the media reports that the honor has been bestowed upon Shilpa for her outstanding contribution to cultural diversity and good relations between the peoples of the United Kingdom and India. The extent of her efforts towards good relations can be judged from the fact that she has been blamed for breaking up a marriage in UK!!!! (By fostering good relations with the husband ha ha ha!)

Wotever!!! Well jokes apart, we all know that Shilpa is not just the flavor of the season. The lady has got mettle and the world is appreciating it. Once again she has done her country proud. Way to go, gal
