Anita met Sachit during her first year at the management school they both attended. Friendship was followed by love and soon they were a pair on and off campus. But a few months down the road, Anita started having her doubts. Sachit was too demanding and too needy. Anita needed her space and Sachit wasnt giving her any. So she decided to call it quits. When she broke the news to him, Sachit was shocked at first, then tearful and later angry. He tried all the tricks in the book to make her change her mind, and she did.

Another month passed and Anita again tried to break up with Sachit. This time she wanted to break up for good. But Sachit would not leave her alone. He would call her ceaselessly on her mobile. Finally Anita got her number changed. This resulted in his calling on the landline at her residence. Anitas parents were worried and angry over this turn of events. A few days later, Anita caught Sachit following her around every time she went out. This stalking was both irritating and scary.

This is not a mere work of fiction. Many women face such problems in real life. This is because men (especially Indian men) are brought up to believe that they are supreme and that important decisions should be taken by them. So for a woman to decide that she will no longer see a man, is unacceptable to most men. Its OK if they break up with you. But if you dare to break up with them, you will have to do a lot of paying for it.

This does not mean that you have to tolerate a needy, overtly aggressive, boring or whatever kind of jerk you are with. If you are not happy with a guy, you have every right to dump him.
