Do you find yourself often wondering why Bigg Boss is so partial towards Rahul Mahajan? Do you also wonder if Monica Bedi really won the wild card entry, fair and square?
Well, you have every reason to wonder and question these things. Reports are out that betting is a big racket where Bigg Boss is concerned. Bookies and punters have disclosed all the details to a leading paper.
Reports say that at least Rs 800 million (80 crores) is riding on Rahul, who is the top favorite in the betting world.
Next comes Zulfi, who has Rs 650 million (60 crores) riding on his "quiet" shoulders.
Raja Chaudhary and Ashutosh Kaushik share the third favorite spot, with Rs 200 million (20 crores) riding on each.
Now, with all this big money spinning around in bets, you can well imagine the kind of pressure that the channel and production house must face. Who knows what will the betting mafia resort to, in order to make Rahul win. India has certainly discovered a completely new kind of betting and match fixing!
The TOI report says, "Bookies say the total betting amount on the game show could be something around Rs.4-5 billion, barely 1/15th or even less than what is at stake for reality shows like Big Brother, Survivor and even American Idol.
“This sort of betting still has to take root in the country as most people don’t have any knowledge. People are still cricket crazy here. Either they bet on cricket matches or on elections which have a bigger market,” said a Mumbai-based bookie, who has been part of a clandestine network for some time. "
Chalo, at least something is succeeding in taking Indian minds off cricket for a while!!!
