IPL has sparked off a political/moral controversy with it's cheerleaders. Many of the teams have imported cheerleading squads for themselves. These cheerleaders are usually dressed in very skmimpy/revealing clothes. Indian men, who never get to see such a public display of skin, seem to be losing control at the matches.
The cheerleaders have complained that lewd comments and ogling from spectators are proving at best a tiring distraction and at worst sexual harassment. "It's been horrendous," Tabitha, a cheerleader from Uzbekistan, told the Hindustan Times. "Wherever we go we do expect people to pass lewd, snide remarks but I'm shocked by the nature and magnitude of the comments people pass here."
Shatrughan Sinha, the actor turned politician, thinks that if IPL needs dancing girls at these matches, they shud hire the unemployed bar dancers from Mumbai. I think thts a great idea, but wot to do abt the obsession with fair skin that Indians have???
Some ppl hv compared cheerleaders with item girls. I think the whole thing is very unfair. If men pass lewd comments at cheerleaders or item girls, then it's the guys who r at afult and not the skimpily dressed women. Let a completely nude guy roam the streets and se how many women pass lewd comments!
Cheer Leaders
In India, there is nothing attracts our Indians more than White Skin. Specially, when they are Girls. Shatrughan Sinha is right when he said that IPL should have given a chance to our Indian Girls who could have done this job very happily for their Players or they should have employed Bar Girls from Mumbai, who have gone out-of-job because of the very high character values of a few Politicians.
