Hi Kusum

Getting a job of your choice depends on your qualifications, and also on your college/university. It would be advisable for you to take up programming job as soon as you get. After 2-3 years of experience in your company, you will naturally be promoted to managerial job. But you do have to start at the bottom of the ladder. So do it without wasting time.

Good Luck!

My skills lie in my strong oral and written communication; am a cyber addict; i love socialising; counselling; travelling; singing; radio talks; my son is 4 year old. Dear Zohra It is important

Dear Zohra

It is important to desire things for the right reasons. Your competition should be only with yourself and not with your friends. If you want to hv a rocking career, it's great. But want it only for yourself, for your happiness...not coz u hv to prove sth to friends! Pls don't mind this little lecture. If u take not of this, it will contribute greatly to ur happiness.

Coming to our question, the meltdown is going away and jobs r opening up again. Craete your profiles on all leading job sites. Regiater with famous consultants like ABC etc. Also, if u feel u r losing time and not getting interesting offers, take wotever u get. Some ppl r lucky to jump up with great jobs. And some unlucky ones hv to slog their way to the top. Don't be afraid to start at the bottom. Just get going and be confident. Lastly, there's nothing wrong with u. Eliminate self doubt dear. Good Luck!

hi
I am an engineer in electronics and communication. I have completed my graduation this year. due ti receesion there are no jobs for freshers, specially in my field. I hv posted my resumes in many job seeking sites. i hv still not got any response. I hv got calls for working in bpo. I m not interested in that. i thought of studying further.
I wanted to do MBA but I hv seen my friends struggling coz they are freshers. I dnt knw wat 2 do. plz help. I hv registered in NAUKRI FOR WOMEN.

Hi anonymous

It will be better if you do something...anything...rather than wsting your time complaining. If you are not getting a suitable job due to recession, please take whatever you can get. If that does not go down well with you, then take up further education. But please don't sit at home and waste your time. No employer likes to see blanks in your career. When jobs open up and you go for interviews, u will be asked wot u were doing after graduation. How will u explain. Any experience is better than no experience. And u get to make money and be independent. That's important too. So either go get a job or get into further studying.

Regards.

naukriforwomen's picture

Dear Neetu You are not alone

Dear Neetu

You are not alone in this confusion. Many Indian women take a break from work after marriage or having children. Coming back is not always easy, but it is always possible. What you can do is, go through all your MBA books again. Read about current affairs and generally try to get back into the groove of things. Then you should simultaneously try for a teaching job and your PhD. Since you do not have experience, you can start with smaller or lesser known colleges first. Later you can move to bigger one with experience. But this will require dedication and persevarence.

Good Luck!

PLEASE HELP WHAT TO DO.....

Hi..
PLEASE HELP ME>>>>>>
I am in a very critical situation. Starting from the time of +2,.......i passed out +2 in 2001 batch with 67% marks,i wanted to go for medical line so,took break frm studies for 1 yr and prepared for it i tried hard but unfortunately i didn't get seat anywhere other then KCET (karnataka) but the course fee was so high that i had to quit the idea of admission because of not having sufficient fund arrangements.Next yr in 2002 i took admission in BSc and passed out in 2005 with 52 % marks because in final days of my graduation a company came to my college and they promised excellent career with them in mumbai (in a field of digital arts) and few students including me joined the course and concentrated much on it after graduation we continued the course in mumbai for an yr n last 5 months of internship, during internship i came across bad persons who were ready to play with girls many others compromised with that but i was not able to adjust,so i came back.it was almost dec of 2006 so i didn't get into other courses i prepared for MBA and got in Osmania university HYD. I took addmission in 2007-2009 batch i passed out with 73% marks. Now as the market is down and we hav less jobs in private sector so i thought of going into gov sector but because of less % in graduation i can't go for that. I am 24yr old girl who has wasted almost 2yrs of my career now finally with MBA degree in marketing and HR and having NO JOB please suggest me..
From where shall i start..is there any future for me?? As i am a girl so i don't have much time to prove myself. I am good at watever i do but the issue is i didn't get proper guidence and got distracted.
Shall i go for any certification if yes then which certification and if no then where shall i start from which all sectors will suite me?? shall i go for marketing jobs or HR jobs, which one? i am really confused and upset please help me.......

please answer me at soonest i don't wana waste any single day of my life now.. i m very upset please help.

Dear Husnita As Raj has

Dear Husnita

As Raj has pointed out, your marks in MBA will be more important in getting a job as compared to marks in graduation. But if you still feel so strongly about it, you can always take the "improvement exams." Most universities allow students to improve their percentage by taking one or more exams again. Please contact your university to find out about the rules concerning this matter.

But it is more important to let go of your hang ups and to start looking for a job. Attend as many interviews as you possibly can. Go for walk ins and apply for all suitable jobs. You will learn a lot from this exercise, and you will definitely find something that will suit your needs. Even if you have to make a sacrifice on the salary initially, it is better to do that and gain experience rather than waste time. So go ahead and get cracking on some interviews!

Good Luck!

Dear Kamal Going abroad may

Dear Kamal

Going abroad may not be the right thing to do at the moment. Recession has hit the Western countries much worse than it has hit ours. The quota for US H1B visas always got a huge number of applications, and they had to use the lottery system to decide. But this year, even after a month of the beginning of the process, 20000 applications are still required to fill the quota. This shows that the IT industry guys do not see any merit in going to USA right now.

About Canada, life is really tough for the first 5 years for any immigrant. You may not get a job of your choice for the first few years. If you are prepared to toil, you should go for it. But it is important that you do a reality check of the ground sitiation there, before you decide.

Best Regards.

Dear Stella Academics is

Dear Stella

Academics is really a great way to go, especially for women. The working hours are good and you get a cool number of holidays after each semester. But it also holds a lot of responsibility. If you really think you are cut for the role of a professor, you should first of all try to get a position of lecturer in a small college or study center. Once you start there, try to get enrolled in a part-time PhD program. Once you get your doctorate, there should be no stopping your progress.

I feel too stagnated in my present job and have been wanting to quit for the last year or so. I have some problems with my team and the issues seem to be getting out of hand. Due to the recession, there is not much work to do anyway. So I feel that I should start looking for a new job where I will have some exciting and meaninful projects to work on. The inaction is getting to me. Should I go ahead and look for a new job? Or should I wait till the economic crisis is over?

Yes, due to fear of negative consequences like a legal suit, most companies in India prefer to carry out layoffs in this way.

Delhigal

Job security is not guaranteed for anyone today. The corporate world is especially seeing many changes, salary cuts, long leaves and layoffs.

So it is advisable to be mentally prepared for it in the current scenario. One should focus on skill enhancement, networking and saving money in such times. Please read our career articles for more information.

Tuitions are a great source

Tuitions are a great source of extra income for school teachers. If you think you can spare the time, you must go for it. To advertise, you should first create an advertisement in MS Office. Get a few print outs and go and paste them at the grocery shop in your locality etc. Make sure your ad is seen by maximum people in your locality. Maybe you'll need permission for this. Apart fromt his, you can get pamphlets printed. Circulate them with the newspaper in your locality. This should work. Good Luck!
