Everyone wants to be thin. Being healthy is out. Being thin is in. Few girls realise how damaging the war against the scales can be.
Anorexia No, its not Anu, Rex and Zia at the coffee shop together. Its one word only and it is a medical term for people obsessed with losing weight by eating very less. It is a word few Indians would identify with. It is something that till now only the Western people used. But with our obsession about everything phoren only increasing by the day, it was not unexpected that Anorexia hit Indian shores (and how). In a recent article on the popular tabloid Mid-Day, it was speculated that our very own Kareena Kapoor is Anorexic. Now you may ask what next? First she was chic, now anorexic, so what is this whole fuss about?
Well people, let Memsaab enlighten you. First, being beautiful is not equal to being Anorexic. Anorexia is a disorder. Period. It is a disorder that requires immediate medical and psychological help. While it is true that many models, film actors, celebs and socialites are anorexic, they should by no means inspire you. We watch movies, where a particular actor looses oodles of weight and sports a very gaunt look to go along with a particular character. Please bear in mind that these actors lose weight (only to regain it later) under the supervision of personal trainers and dieticians.
It is worth mentioning that in the western world there have been cases of anorexia related deaths. Also an obsession with losing weight leads to personality disorders. In the long term this can severely affect our health, physically as well as mentally. Being healthy and fit is far preferable to being thin or skinny. So go for those curves gals and you will find a lot more men coming after you. And if that ice cream looks to tempting, just go for it!!!
