The latkas and jhavkas of item numbers have swept the bollyood audiences off their feet. What began as side role for the struggling actresses has now become a favourite among the top heroines of bollywood. From Aishwarya Rai and Bipasha Basu to Shah Rukh Khan and Hritik Roshan, everyone is ready to snatch their share of limelight by performing an Item Number for their fans. It has almost become a sure-shot ‘formula’ for success, as film makers spare no opportunity to insert a sexy item dance in their movies. Be it comedy (Krazzy $4). Be it reality (Shoot Out At Lokhandwalla). Be it animated…!

Yeah! It’s true. The next animated movie you watch may have a sexy character luring the audiences with her matkas and jhatkas! The audiences: 15 year old and below!

The pioneer company that is introducing this cult to Animated Indian Cinema is a Pune-based production house, Anushvi Productions. It is producing an animated mythological, Dashavatar, in association with Phoebus Creations Media Pvt. Ltd.

The movie that took two years to complete has been narrated by Shatrughan Sinha , while actors Sachin Khedekar and Shreyas Talpade have lent their voices to its key characters.

After the completion of the movie, its film makers felt that it was looking a bit "dry", and so the director of the movie, Bhavik Thakore suggested an item song to be added!

Bhavik felt that the movie needed the item number, "The situation where a beautiful maiden mesmerises the demons and lulls them into a sense of complacency lends itself to the song, which has all the trappings of an item number," he said.

But the bigger issue is not what the director feels, but what the young movie goers will feel after watching this movie. And more importantly, what will their parents feel? Because no matter how popular animated movies become among the adult movie goers, children will always constitute a large part of viewers for animated creations!

So now, after the introduction of sexy item numbers in animated movies, what’s next on the cards? A Certificate from the Censor Board of India!
