Late every evening, I and my husband watch reruns of Shahrukh's Paanchvi Pass show. And every time we wonder what went wrong with it. I think it is one of the most (perhaps the most) entertaining quiz game show we have even seen. KBC with Mr. Bachchan was OK, but it was more like an ode to Mr. Bachchan. The seriousness of the show didnt appeal much to me. SRK's version was much more entertaining and we liked the way he put the contestants at complete ease.
But the Paanchvi Pass show is much more entertaining to watch. The way people behave, the unabashed flirting that the women engage in...everything is so entertaining. And who can question the wit and humor of King Khan? It is beyond anyone else's! Yes, I am a big SRK fan. But my husband i not. But we agree on this show..it is very watchable. Not to mention the fact that it is also educational. Things that we have forgotten (or never learned) are taught to us in such an interesting way by such an interesting examiner..!
So why did the show not clickwith the audience?
I think its just because there's such a plethora of channels and reality shows that nobody knows what to watch anymore. It's a war out there. Everyone is trying to grab eyeballs. Some succeed, some fail. But Mr. Khan hs not failed at all. He has done a superb job. I think critics and colleagues should remember that when they make silly comments about the show. Mr. Blog B, are you listening?
