Experts say that most of our lifestyle diseases are a direct result of spending more time sitting than standing or being active otherwise. People who spend long hours at desk jobs are likely to have poor health for this reason. If you have a desk job, it is time you started thinking about how to avoid the chair. You should stand up and go for a walk or other activity at least for 10 minutes after every hour or so.
Here is how sitting affects your health:
1. Poor digestion: Sitting contracts the innards and hence slows down our digestion, resulting in gas, acidity, bloating and other related issues.
2. Heart Disease: Sitting for long hours reduces our heart rate and so the fat that is not burnt up by muscles, clogs up inside the arteries!
3. Diabetes: Sitting can make you prone to diabetes as it affects the body's ability to respond to insulin.
4. Weight Gain: Needless to say, a person who spends most of her day sitting is likely to gain weight. This opens the door for many other ailments!
So if you care about your health, try to get out of your chair every now and then!
